Answer Engine Optimization · AEO/GEO

Get cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews

Search isn't just blue links anymore. Buyers now ask ChatGPT and Perplexity who to buy from. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) makes sure your business is in the answer — not just the SERP.

Starting at ₹35,000 setup · From ₹18,000/mo run

The search landscape has changed

Three years ago, “ranking on Google” meant ranking in the blue-link list. Today, the same query in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini returns a generated answer — with citations. The buyer reads the answer. They click a citation if they want more depth.

If your business is in the citations, you win. If you're only in the blue links a buyer no longer scrolls down to see, you lose — even if you're ranking #1 in classic SEO terms.

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), also called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), is the practice of structuring your content, schema and brand presence so AI engines treat you as an authoritative source worth citing.

The engines we optimise for

Each engine has its own citation rules. We adapt content for all of them.

ChatGPT (Search + Browse)

200M+ weekly users · cites top 5-10 sources

Perplexity

Citation-first model · favours fact-rich pages with schema

Google AI Overviews

Generative summary on top of SERP · cites 3-8 sources

Gemini (in Search + standalone)

Cites broader source set than Google blue links

Claude (Anthropic)

Web search added in 2025 · favours authoritative, dated content

You.com / Komo / others

Smaller, but useful for niche & technical queries

The six pillars of Answer Engine Optimization

Classic SEO is the foundation. These are the AI-engine specifics.

Pillar 1

Fact-density audit

AI engines cite pages with high fact-density per paragraph — specific numbers, dates, names, sources. We rewrite your top 20 pages to be citation-ready without losing the human reading experience.

Pillar 2

Schema.org markup

Article, FAQPage, HowTo, Product, Service, ProfessionalService, Person, Organization, LocalBusiness — the structured data AI engines lean on for citation confidence.

Pillar 3

Brand-mention engineering

AI engines weigh how often a brand is mentioned across the open web. We seed mentions through guest articles, podcast appearances, directory listings, niche communities, and Wikipedia (where eligible).

Pillar 4

Topic-cluster pages

Generative engines prefer comprehensive topic coverage over single one-off articles. We build pillar + cluster structures with internal linking that signals authority.

Pillar 5

Authoritative author bios

Schema.org Person markup, real photo, real credentials, real social profiles. AI engines now weight authorship signals — anonymous content gets cited far less.

Pillar 6

Citation-rich content

We add inline citations to authoritative sources (gov.in, RBI, MoSPI, sectoral bodies). This boosts the chance an AI engine treats our page as authoritative and cites it in turn.

What the data tells us

ChatGPT citations

Of the top 100 ChatGPT-cited URLs for a query, ~60% have Article or FAQPage schema. 30% have Person/Organization markup. We make sure your top pages have both.

Perplexity sourcing

Perplexity cites 5-10 sources per answer with a clear preference for fact-dense, recently-updated pages. We update key pages quarterly + flag freshness.

Google AI Overviews

Generative summaries pull from the top 8-15 ranking pages plus knowledge graph entries. We optimise for both — the rank AND the structured fact base.

AEO/GEO FAQ

Is AEO different from SEO?

Overlapping but distinct. SEO optimises for ranking in the blue-link list. AEO optimises for being cited in a generated answer. Both share fundamentals (good content, schema, page speed, authority) but AEO adds emphasis on fact density, citation, brand-mention frequency and author authority.

Does AEO replace classic SEO?

No — classic SEO still drives the majority of organic traffic. AEO is additive. Most businesses should be doing both. The right mix is roughly 60% SEO + 40% AEO investment in 2026, shifting toward AEO over the next 2-3 years.

How do you measure AEO success?

Citation count across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews + brand-mention frequency across the open web + traditional SEO metrics (rankings, organic traffic, conversions). We provide a monthly dashboard tracking all three.

How long until we get cited?

Realistic range: 60-120 days for niche / long-tail queries, 6-12 months for competitive head terms. Brand-mention engineering compounds over time, so results accelerate after month 3.

What about Bing Chat / Microsoft Copilot?

Same playbook — Copilot pulls from Bing's index plus broader web sources. Our schema and citation work covers Copilot natively.

Will AI engines change their citation rules?

Constantly. We monitor citation behaviour quarterly and adapt. The fundamentals — authority, fact density, schema, brand mentions — are unlikely to change. The exact weights shift.

Do you submit content to OpenAI / Anthropic for training?

No — those programs aren't generally open, and submitting content for training is not the same as being cited at query time. What matters is being in the live web index that engines query, plus schema and authority signals at that moment.
